Sponsored by Dr. Daniel G. Very Orthodontics, the new indoor play area at Eastwood Mall is a “very” special place to play. Just ask one of the hundreds of children and parents who attended the opening day festivities during the weekend of August 1-2, and the hundreds who have visited since.

Located in Niles, OH, Eastwood Mall was looking to replace its existing play area, which opened in 2006, says Joe Bell, Director of Corporate Communications for Cafaro Company.“We ended up having some very productive and fun conversations with an orthodontist who has an office on the property,” says Bell. “He knew that sponsoring the play area would get him in front of parents with young children and it would also allow him to promote good dental health, so he decided to sponsor the mall’s new play area.”

The result is The Very Orthodontics Smile Cove, which includes new DuraSoft Safety carpeting, new soft play elements, and a new surrounding wall with seating for parents. Bell says that there is also new seating around the outside of the play area. Soft Play also branded many of the play elements with the Very Orthodontics logo.Dr. Very and Cafaro agreed upon an undersea theme using characters from “Captain McFinn & Friends,” a popular book series created by Cafaro. They asked Soft Play to design a retail play area using the book’s characters, giving them all braces, and surrounding them with sea-themed play elements.

“Everyone loves it,” says Bell, who adds that children could hardly control their excitement in the days leading up to the big grand opening.

“The play area was draped off and every once in a while, you could see a kid poke their head through the draperies and they’d come out with huge eyes saying, ‘Ohhhhh!’”
